An interesting experience can be found with "Eco-Management Audit Scheme for Local Authorities Environmental Benchmarking" project (http://www.m-almada.pt/emas-lab/eng/o_que.htm)
developed in Almada (Portugal). As is mentioned there "EMAS LAB is the designation chosen by the Municipality of Almada for a European project that intends to test the applicability of the EMAS system in Portuguese Local Authorities. The municipality's administration, facilities and services are used for this purpose, taking further advantage of previous experience and knowledge gained in other European projects in this field".

Is anybody on this group interested in / experienced in developing environmental status reports (or frameworks for ESRs) for cities? We at the Pune RCE are trying to put together a framework, and we can use all the help anyone can give us. We've looked at the ceroi indicator set, but would appreciate getting more info on development of local indicators, and their use by the municipality, but also by citizens.
