Has anyone in the England come across reviewed ESD resources on a website? I found this one in USA http://r4r.ca/ and I know SEEd have done a list of climate change resources (although not reviewed) but that is such a small part.

I am due to run a few courses on integrating ESD into ks3 and primary, and don't want to reinvent the wheel if there are books or webpages already outlining ideas and resources available. I already have listed a few on our webpages www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/sustainableschools but was looking for more.

Dear Colleagues,

My colleague John O’Reilly is interested in an application for FP 7 Capacities funding under the heading: Supporting formal and informal science education in schools as well as through science centres and museums and other relevant means.

He is looking for partners interested in developing a network for sharing science education research. His own research areas are:
• The Virtual Chemistry Laboratory for Irish Post-Primary Schools (VCLIPPS) will be looking to (principally) promote enquiry-based approaches to chemistry and authentic assessment electronic of same to change the way the subject is taught and assessed and increase student uptake in Higher Education.
• The Virtual Science Tutor for Irish Primary Schools will look to analyse dialogue between expert teachers and students to unpack the epistemology of science and structure this into a Virtual Tutor who will guide students and teachers through enquiry into an area of the science syllabus. This aims to build student learning and teacher confidence.

Both projects aim to bridge the gap between research and practice.

His existing partners include: CMU (US), CASTeL group (DCU) and RLO-CETL (3 universities in UK).

He can be contacted on: John.OReilly@ul.ie

Kind regards,

Roland

Hello, I have just joined the Ning-site and found this group! Jos, concerning your question, we (CREIAS-Oeste), Portugal, we are also addressing the issues related with Teacher Training. I hope we can exchange our experiences in Barcelona!

Hello, again my compliments for this Ning-site and the groups created, thanks. We have a key-priority on teacher training here in the Netherlands in the fields of teaching nature, science, math, biology, etc. Our plan is to grasp this thematically, combine it, into teacher training in ESD, including aspects of personal development. Besides content sharing on the ´class-room´-part I would like to propose to bring teachers that go in development in contact with colleaguas abroad. If there are projects or approaches on Teacher Traning for ESD, or the wish to do so, in other RCE Regions, pleas contact us.

The picture below was taken a few weeks ago during one of our projects, shouwing a teacher looking flabbergasted by the amount and diversity of questions and topics pupils put up (within 10 minutes) on the ESD theme Water.
