Certainly this is a special group for me. How thoughtful.

I fully agree Sanskriti, let us see if we can start making a workingpaper on collaborative project by students. Perhaps we should first consider 2 aspects: first, the collaborative working as such, organisational, how do we organize it, make it effective and longer lasting. Second, I think it would be wise to first focus on one or two theme's (for example consumption of food and watermanagement or take a quick survey among students to definie where their special interest are, although I think you find groups for almost every theme). For local acceptance and effectiviness it is wise to check the local agenda's priorities (for example new energy is 'hot' in our region, but actually any sustainability item can be made so). If you agree I will bring this issue to our core-group and start our collective process of thinking.

Jos ... thanks for inviting me to your group. Some things I would like to see happening ...

1. Collaborative projects by students, guided by the respective RCEs (such as investigating the use of energy, production and consumption of food, transport issues, status of schooling, health etc) - the advantage would be joint investigation undertaken in different locations allowing for comparing the differences and commonalities, and challenges and solutions in different cities -- this may be one way of helping students develop a local + global perspective on specific issues.

2. As our collaborative activities take on a greater life, I would like to see others within the RCE also joining in the discussions so that people other than the RCE anchors are able to directly connect within our networks

Thanks for inviting me to your discussion group, Jos. It was a pleasure meeting you in Barcelona and I look forward to working with you. I will respond to the email you sent yesterday after I get home on Wednesday. I am still travelling!

Given the importance of informal and non-formal education to manifest ESD, we will build learning pathways that connect the educational chain vertically (from primairy up to higher education on themes), first on Water and Food, and horizontally (with companies and other private fields of knowledge). To do so, the primairy goal at this moment is mobilising and training teachers. We're very interested to find any other RCE that emphasizes the importance of teacher training for ESD or to discuss this approach.
